Cymbalta (duloxetine) is an SNRI used to treat depression, anxiety, diabetic neuropathy, symptoms of fibromyalgia, and some other types of chronic pain. It works by increasing the amount of serotonin and norepinephrine available in the brain. It is also available as generic duloxetine.

Cymbalta has shown to be effective at relieving depression and anxiety symptoms while lowering relapse rates for depression. It can relieve some types of chronic pain, especially as it relates to those struggling with chronic depression.

In a study, it was shown that six out of ten people who use an antidepressant for the first time find that Cymbalta works for the day-to-day issues of chronic pain.

Sorry, but Cymbalta is Not a good option if you're a heavy drinker, or if you have liver or kidney problems. Not the best option for people with high blood pressure.
Like most antidepressants, Cymbalta can cause a higher risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior for people age 24 and younger.

The first antidepressant you try doesn't always work or it can cause side effects you really don't like. You might need to try a few different medications until you find one that works for you. I for one DID NOT have a good experience with Cymbalta as it gave me some deep dark thoughts of suicidal tendencies along with a deeper depression, so I will NOT be trying it again!
